Frequently Asked Questions

What are dead/stuck pixels and how do I find them?
Dead pixels are pixels that cannot display colors correctly. Stuck pixels always show white, dark pixels always show black, and dead pixels show a fixed color. By displaying fullscreen solid colors (red, green, blue, white, black), you can quickly identify these defective pixels.
What environment is best for backlight bleed testing?
Backlight bleed testing works best in a dark or low-light environment. Set your display to high brightness (70%+), then observe the edges of the screen on a fullscreen black background for uneven bright areas. Minor IPS glow is normal, but asymmetric or severe bleed may indicate a panel defect.
What factors affect screen test results?
Results can be affected by screen brightness settings, ambient lighting, GPU color settings, and browser color management. Test under your display's default settings and combine multiple test modes for a comprehensive assessment.
Are motion blur and ghosting the same thing?
Not exactly. Ghosting appears as trailing artifacts behind moving objects, caused by slow pixel response time. Motion blur is the perceived blur when tracking moving objects, related to display hold time. This tool uses UFO and flicker tests to help differentiate them.
Can I use this tool on mobile devices?
Yes. The tool supports touch interaction — tap the screen in fullscreen mode to advance. Screen info cards also work on mobile. However, some tests like backlight bleed detection are less effective in bright outdoor conditions.
